While the Demon might have been the only new nameplate for 1971, other models went through various changes and some of them, like the ’71 ‘Cuda, are considered by many to be the Holy Grail of Mopars. To honor the 1971 model year, there will be a featured indoor display. If you have a 1971 Mopar, this is your year!

To honor the 1971 model year, there will be a featured indoor display. If you have a 1971 Mopar, this is your year!
All 1971 Mopars are encouraged to register for the Showfield and you can REGISTER HERE. If you think your ’71 stands out and would like to have it considered for the indoor featured display, you can submit an application HERE. What are we looking for? As stated above…something that stands out. That can be a car with a cool history, a rare option(s), an over-the-top restoration, a race car, Survivor, Barn Find or whatever you think makes it special!
We’ve done Barn Find displays before but this will be an indoor display just for derelict Superbirds! At a minimum, we’re looking for one of every color. It can be a car that’s in need of a restoration, a Barn Find or one that’s been rotting away in a field for decades.
There’s just something about an unrestored Mopar, no matter how rough, that draws us to it. About 20 years ago there was a REALLY rough AAR ‘Cuda at Fall Carlisle along the back fence that didn’t have one usable piece of sheetmetal on it. But it drew crowds all weekend and on Monday all that remained was a 6’ x 18’ ring of dead grass (and maybe a few chunks of rust).
We’ve done Barn Find displays before but this will be an indoor display just for derelict Superbirds! At a minimum, we’re looking for one of every color. It can be a car that’s in need of a restoration, a Barn Find or one that’s been rotting away in a field for decades. What it CAN’T be is a shiny show car. If you have a Superbird that’s in less than pristine condition, we’re interested. Visit CarlisleFeatures.com to submit your application!
There’s just something kool about Old Skool paint, whether it was done 40 years ago and it managed to survive or it was done recently by one of the many talented artists with a paint gun! However, seeing it on a Mopar isn’t very common so we’re putting together a special indoor display for a trip back in time. If you have a Mopar for this display, we’d love it if you would submit an application.

We definitely want some legit Old Skool paint and many times that means lacquer cracks and other “flaws”, but that’s totally okay! Or maybe you, or your painter, are one of the fortunate few who can still lay down a paint job that captures the feel of the past. If so, then we’d like to hear from you, too. We’re not just looking for ‘60s and ‘70s styles, either. We want to see any paint scheme that takes us back in time.
Although the nameplate originally only lasted for two years, the legacy not only lives on, it was resurrected in 2018. We’re welcoming both Demons for this celebration with a special indoor display.
Although the nameplate originally only lasted for two years, the legacy not only lives on, it was resurrected in 2018. We’re welcoming both Demons for this celebration with a special indoor display. We want the full range of stockers from Slant Sixes to 340s, but we also want to feature your custom builds, Survivors, Day 2 cars, Barn Finds and more.
In addition to the featured display, we want to see as many Demons on the Showfield as possible and we’re adding classes just for Demons this year. The name Demon might have been a bit much for some in the early ‘70s, hence the switch to the name Dart Sport, but the car itself has remained very popular. Bring your little devil by registering for the Showfieldor apply for the Featured Vehicle Display.

The Chrysler Nationals hosts a nice balance of vehicles of all brands and eras. And even though the Featured Vehicle Displays often focus on certain models due to various anniversaries and celebrations, we still make sure we have room to highlight anything from Ma Mopar. Basically, if it’s welcome on the Showfield, it’s eligible for consideration in the Featured Vehicle Display.
If you have a vehicle that you think should be featured, you are strongly encouraged to submit an application. The process only takes about 5 to 10 minutes but please be sure to have some good photos ready to upload (it’s as easy as attaching them to an email). You are welcome to contact the Event Manager Ed Buczeskie via e-mail if you have any questions.
Oh, and the more unique the vehicle is, the more we might be interested! If you think it’s special and should be highlighted at the show, we want to hear from you. The entire process is easy and can be done totally online at www.CarlisleFeatures.com.

We’re honored that the Golden Commandos have chosen to make the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals an annual stop on their schedule. These guys put the Plymouth brand in the winner’s circle many times over the years. They love meeting their fans and talking about the glory days of racing. They will be available to sign autographs and meet with fans all weekend. Commandos who regularly attend include Evan Ericson, Jim Hall, Ray Kobe and Warren Anderson. These legends are 2013 Mopar Hall of Fame inductees. See them at Carlisle and enjoy this very unique experience.
It seems as though the RAMCHARGERS enjoy being at Carlisle as much as we enjoy having them at the show and for that reason we call them our “friends” rather than special guests.

Even though they have become regulars at the Chrysler Nationals we can’t forget what this group has done for our hobby. They were pioneers on the track and in the office. They truly are legends in the Mopar world and we are honored to have them at the show each year. The Historic Vehicle Association Comes to Carlisle
National Organization Presents the Preservation Award During Event Weekend
There are lots of classics onsite during event weekend but only one will win a special award from the Historic Vehicle Association, or HVA. Once again this year, the HVA recognizes the importance of event weekend and those who take part in it.
There are lots of classics onsite during event weekend but only one will win a special award from the Historic Vehicle Association, or HVA. Once again this year, the HVA recognizes the importance of event weekend and those who take part in it. For decades, immaculately restored vehicles have wowed spectators at large scale events like the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. More and more, the ones that gain the attention of judges and enthusiasts alike are those that are essentially original.
No vehicle is completely “original.” But some cars do come captivatingly close. As such, the HVA now offers a Preservation Award, also known as the the FIVA Award. This award is now presented at many of the country’s most important events and was designed to both celebrate and acknowledge these one-of-a-kind vehicles.
Congratulations to the Preservation Award winner, Tim Wellborn and his K&K Bobby Isaac Race Car/1969 Dodge Charger Daytona.

Handy Tips for a Successful Trip Through the Automotive Flea Market
FREE Taxi Service and Parts Hauling Help Get You From A to B at Carlisle
The Carlisle PA Fairgrounds is a large footprint that can be a challenge at times, even for the most experienced attendee. 82 acres, 16+ miles of paved roadway, vendors and cars everywhere…it’s easy to understand how you may start wondering to yourself “where did I see that part or car I want to buy?” “How do I get my purchase from its space to my truck?” “How am I going to do this?”
Never fear, because we’ve compiled a helpful list of ways that enhance your on-site experience at Carlisle! Thanks for joining us and enjoy your time at the show!
BRING CASH - The more the better. It’s hard to negotiate a deal without being able to pay.
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES - It’s a lot of walking.
SUN BLOCK/DRINK LIQUIDS - You’ll be in the sun all day. It’s important to protect yourself and stay hydrated, especially if your weekend outdoors is your first prolonged exposure to the sun for the year.
REMEMBER THE SPACE - Take a picture of the space location or write it down. Every space at Carlisle has a disk to designate the space. Look down and you’ll see the space marker. Write down the letter and number. Don’t try to remember the space or the surrounding area. You’ll spend the rest of the day looking for it.
COME EARLY - Rare parts and great deals typically happen for the first person to find them. Set up day(s) and the first day of the event are for the serious shoppers.
ACT FAST - If you see a great deal, grab it. If you plan to come back later, it will probably be gone.
NEGOTIATE - It’s a flea market so don’t be afraid to make a REASONABLE offer.
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED - Chances are good that you will find something you weren’t planning to find, so keep your eyes open.
LOOK EVERYWHERE - Even if you are looking for parts for your brand of vehicle, don’t walk past the vendor selling parts for other models or generations just because you assume there’s no way the vendor has what you want. Give their space a look too. They might not only have it, it may be cheap since it’s not what they typically sell.
USE THE CARLISLE EVENTS APP - Use the FREE Carlisle Events app to easily find your way back to a vendor (if you know the row and space). You can also use it to check activity schedules, register for other events, connect with fellow enthusiasts via social media, browse a digital copy of the event guide and more.
STAY LATE – There are always deals at Carlisle, but sometimes the best ones happen early on day 1 of a show, or late on its final day.Vendors are typically more willing to negotiate when they are packing up – especially large items.
BRING A SHOPPING LIST - Our memories aren’t as good as we think. Write it down. You can even make a list on your phone. Take pictures of what you need.
BRING A BAG, CART, ETC. - Parts will get heavy so have a way to carry your purchases. Ask the seller if you can leave heavy parts until later.
HAVE IT HAULED - Carlisle Events offers FREE* parts hauling. Keep that in mind if you’re looking at an engine, transmission, truck bed, etc.
FREE TAXI SERVICE – Need to get from point A to point B but don’t feel like walking it? Carlisle Events offers a FREE* taxi service. Dial 717-960-6429 to secure a ride.
ASK! - If someone has parts for a vehicle but not the ones you need, ask if the seller has it. It might still be in his truck or at home. Even if he doesn’t, he might know someone who does.
KNOW THE VALUE - Do some homework on the parts you’re looking for so you know if the price is a good deal.
AVOID THE CROWDS - When you arrive, go to an out-of-the-way area to start rather than following the herd.
WALK IT ALL - Don’t miss any rows. The Carlisle Fairgrounds isn’t a perfect grid so make sure you hit every row and space.
ADVERTISE - Wear a hat, shirt or signboard that spotlights what you’re looking for. It just might create a conversation, especially if what you’re searching for is obscure and/or rare.
*While parts hauling and taxi service are free, donations are graciously accepted. Donated money goes directly to the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation.
