Carlisle Events Starts 2013 with Four Swap Meet/Car Corral Weekends

Season Starts in January with Allentown Auto Mania

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

Since 1977, Carlisle Events has begun its season with Spring Carlisle each April. That trend, however, was changed forever in September of 2012 when Allentown Auto Mania was absorbed into the Carlisle Events’ annual ledger of automotive events. Now, instead of an April seasonal launch, the season begins with Pennsylvania’s “Largest Indoor Swap Meet,” January 18-20, 2013 at the Allentown Fairgrounds. Though the Allentown weekend starts the season, it’s actually the middle event of seven similar swap meet/car corral weekends dating to Labor Day weekend and Fall Auburn.

Allentown Auto Mania takes place within a singular building on the 46-acre fairgrounds complex and thousands of enthusiasts travel from regional towns to buy, sell and trade with total confidence. The over 200 vending spaces are contained within a fully heated building, making an otherwise cold weekend in Lehigh County an automotive hot spot. In addition to an all-automotive sales floor, attendees have an opportunity to snag a collector car via the car corral. This forum allows for owner and seller to deal directly with one another in a no pressure, no haggle environment.

Following the Allentown weekend, Carlisle Events heads south to Florida and Zephyrhills for the Winter AutoFest (February 21-24, 2013). This event is akin to Fall Carlisle and also launched in 1974. Winter AutoFest historically features a sold-out swap meet and car corral setting. Further, as with all other swap meet events (sans Allentown), the weekend features a collector car auction. Given the “snow bird” nature of Florida during the winter months, AutoFest sees enthusiasts travel from all corners of the globe. Combine that with NASCAR excitement at Daytona, the I-4 corridor will be a bastion of automotive excitement as February comes to a close.

With Carlisle staffers back north by the start of March, preparations will commence for the final two spring swap meet/car corral events, Spring Carlisle (April 24-28, 2013) and Auburn Spring (May 9-11, 2013). These two gatherings see Carlisle Events and Auctions America by RM partner to present a pair of great events. Carlisle handles all aspects of the swap meet and car corral at both Spring Carlisle and Auburn Spring, while Auctions America by RM oversees the auto auction. Finally, Spring Carlisle will once again play host to the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow. This competition pits high school tech teams against one another as well as the clock as they tear down and rebuild a small block engine. All competitors earn scholarship money and the winning team at Carlisle is eligible for a trip to the finals, held as part of the PRI Trade Show in Orlando, November 28-30, 2013.
