Carlisle Import/Kit-Replicar Nationals Celebrates Great Britain
Thursday, March 27, 2008
CARLISLE, PA – Fans of all imports won’t want to miss the Carlisle Import/Kit-Replicar Nationals at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds May 16-18, but the focus this year will be on cars from “across the pond.”
For 2008, Carlisle Events has decided to feature all British cars rather than just one manufacturer. There will be more MGs, Triumphs, Jags, Austin Healeys, TVRs, Minis and Land Rovers than ever before. British and all other import owners can participate in the Fun Field or the competitive Standard of Excellence judged show field.
“This year, Carlisle Events highlights all the awesome vehicles from Great Britain,” said Event Manager Ed Buczeskie. “Get ready to peek into boots and under bonnets as you see a ‘British invasion to rival the 1960s.”
In addition to the spectacular show field, you can meet fellow enthusiasts and discuss all the important details about your cars. Import has always been known for its laidback atmosphere, but for those who like to do more than sit in a lawn chair getting a tan, Carlisle offers the SCCA Autocross and Driver’s School. Held on the quarter-mile six-turn mini road course, the autocross has been rapidly gaining in popularity and was a complete sellout in 2007.
Another entertaining activity that exploded with participation last year was the Dyno Challenge. Owners strapped their cars to the chassis dyno one after another all day on Saturday to see who had the most horsepower at the wheels. New this year is Friday night drag racing at the new Quarter Aces one-eighth mile drag strip – the strip will be closed to the public and reserved for the Carlisle Import Show participants.
Car clubs always have a huge presence at this show. Bring all your club members to try to win this year’s Club Challenge. There will be some stiff competition, but if you want to take home the trophy, make sure you have the most members at the show.
