Experience the Bloomsburg Nationals
First-Year Event Showcases all Makes, Models, Styles and Eras
Monday, August 06, 2012
Car owners, vendors and a few thousand automotive enthusiasts will converge on Columbia County and the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds for the first-ever Bloomsburg Nationals powered by Carlisle Events weekend. The event takes place August 10-12 and is expected to feature nearly 1,000 cars, trucks and motorcycles of varying makes, models, styles and sizes. The event will also highlight various automotive and entertainment options, making the weekend suitable for show goers of all ages.
Bloomsburg weekend will launch with a kickoff party Thursday evening at Quaker Steak & Lube, followed by the official start of the weekend on Friday. Friday will usher in various cars and car buffs on grounds for the first of a three-day celebration. As part of the weekend, attendees can traverse the grounds and take a trip back in time via the Fun Field and swap meet. The 227-acre fairgrounds at Bloomsburg will host not only some of the finest cars in the region, but also vendors selling collectables as well as automotive pieces and parts best suited for restoration or modification projects.
The opening day of the weekend will also see entertainment in the form of bull riding. The bovine muscle will take center stage beginning at 6 p.m. near the main stage. Riders from far and wide will compete to see who can last the full 8-seconds by riding a bull. An additional fee will be implemented for those wishing to enjoy bull riding excitement at Bloomsburg which is being presented by the Bloomsburg Fair Association.
Saturday's action continues with more great showfield displays as well as a Saturday evening country concert featuring Mandy Barnett and Michael Twitty. Much like the Friday rodeo action, an additional fee will apply.
In addition to the evening activities, the weekend will host great interactive options such as the burnout and flamethrower contest, slowest drags, teeter-totter competition, judged Fun Field with prizes and more. The Bloomsburg Fairgrounds also features a great food selection, providing all on grounds with a vast array of dining options.
“The Carlisle Events team is really excited about our newest addition, the Bloomsburg Nationals," said Lance Miller, co-owner of Carlisle Events. "We haven’t had the opportunity to start an event from a clean slate in many, many years and this event allows us to really evaluate the property and do what we do best by laying out the perfect automotive event." Miller continued, "It will be a fun filled weekend with plenty of family friendly activities. and the people from Bloomsburg have been incredibly helpful as we plan this event. The relationships we’ve built in the past few months have been exceptional and we’re excited to bring the area plenty of smiling car, motorcycle and truck enthusiasts! Our mission is to make this a ‘must attend’ event for any auto enthusiast.”
