Carlisle Events to Add Sportsman and Outdoors Show to Carlisle-based Schedule in 2013

New Event Marks the First Home-based Carlisle Expansion Since 2002

Carlisle Events went 10 years between additions to its schedule in Pennsylvania. Now, just four months after the addition of its 11th automotive-themed event (Bloomsburg Nationals powered by Carlisle Events), Carlisle Events and the Miller families are pleased to introduce something very different, the Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals. The new, non-automotive focused event will take place annually during the first full weekend following Labor Day. September 6-8 will be the dates of the inaugural event in 2013, while the 2014 weekend is slated for September 5-7.

Known worldwide for nearly 40 years as the preeminent producer of collector car events, Carlisle Events adds the Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals as a way to tap into an audience deeply entrenched in the outdoors lifestyle. Including Carlisle Events' home state of Pennsylvania and its bordering states of Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Ohio, more than 6.7 million people are licensed for either hunting or fishing. Those numbers, combined with the enormity of the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds and the success of events like it in the region, made the addition of this type of an event a no-brainer for Carlisle management.

"Carlisle Events has been conducting automotive events for nearly 40 years and we’ve been doing our very best to perfect what we do with each event that we host," said co-owner Lance Miller. "With everything we’ve learned over the years from an event management and planning standpoint, we’ve decided to venture out of our typical realm with this event," continued Miller. “Given the strong interest among sports and outdoor enthusiasts, we felt like an event of this type would be a perfect fit. After plenty of due diligence we found plenty of room in this arena and we’re excited to put a unique ‘Carlisle Events’ spin on the event." Miller concluded by saying that "we're excited to provide a venue for people to buy, sell, trade, spend time with their families and enjoy their passion in the same manner than millions of automotive enthusiasts have since 1974."

Though few aspects of the 2013 weekend are firm to date, it's anticipated that a family-friendly theme will take center stage. Activities such as a fishpond and casting for kids, monster truck rides, a hunter's safety course and a live animal petting zoo are in the works. Further, kids and adults alike will enjoy ATV test rides, a turkey calling contest, archery shoot, copious seminars and more. A swap meet for new and used hunting and fishing gear as well as a corral for boats, RV's and ATV's are on the radar as event features.

"The Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals are an exciting new show for us at Carlisle," said newly christened event manager Scott Amig. "This event will be based within a prime location for outdoors enthusiasts and we have a great facility to produce a show we believe will give our customers a truly unique experience.
