Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods to Play Bloomsburg Nationals

Regional Touring Act Make Event Debut Saturday (August 11) at 3 p.m.

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Car show, check! Venue, check! Stage sponsorship, check! Band to play on the stage, check! With the key ingredients in place, the Bloomsburg Nationals powered by Carlisle Events is set to take Columbia County by storm, August 10-12 at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds. After months of planning and preparation, the weekend is shaping up to host great family entertainment, special displays and live music, including a Saturday afternoon set with regional favorites Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods.

Flamin' Dick is a Reading, Pennsylvania based group that specializes in 50's and 60's Rock-n-Roll. They consider themselves a party band and are well versed in a wide array of music from 1955 to 1968, the "The Golden Years of Rock-n-Roll." As part of their appearance at Bloomsburg, Flamin' Dick will play the Quaker Steak and Lube stage on Saturday, August 11 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Historically, Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods are road warriors, playing hundreds of gigs annually. In the month leading up to the Bloomsburg Nationals, the group will play fairs, festivals, car events and private parties in various areas of central Pennsylvania. For a group whose name was derived from an offhand comment in 1985, the years of playing music, entertaining crowds and traveling down the roads of life have been quite rewarding. Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods have built a following of loyal fans and those fans, plus the energy of the band, will be on full display event weekend.

The Flamin' Dick show is free with paid admission to the Bloomsburg Nationals, an event similar to those produced at America's Automotive Hometown, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The weekend features cars, trucks and bikes of all makes, models, style and era. Daily tickets are $8 for an adult with children 8 and under admitted free. A three-day pass for just $15 saves more than a full day’s admission. In addition to the Flamin' Dick concert, there are special displays, a Fun Field with awards, great food, crafts and family excitement. The Bloomsburg Fair is also presenting Friday night bull riding and live music on Saturday evening with Michael Twitty and Mandy Barnett for a separate gate admission. Registration and ticket information for the inaugural event are available online at www.CarlisleEvents.com.
