Bull Riding and Live Music Highlight Bloomsburg Excitement
Weekend Entertainment Anchors Inaugural Event
Tuesday, July 03, 2012
The Bloomsburg Nationals powered by Carlisle Events takes place for the first time ever over the weekend of August 10-12, 2012 at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds. In addition to cars, vendors, great food and a large gathering of automotive enthusiasts in north central Pennsylvania, the weekend will feature various forms of entertainment with Friday and Saturday each having cornerstone attractions presented exclusively by the Bloomsburg Fair Association.
As the sun sets on Friday's automotive-related fun, the moon will shine on bovine power as bull riding grabs the attention of those on grounds. The evening action will include barrel racing, bull riding, bucking broncs and more. Riders will compete to see who can last the full "8 seconds" and do so to the applause of attendees of all ages. The bull riding action will take place near the main grandstand with an additional fee required for admission.
On Saturday evening, live music will be the theme as Mandy Barnett and Michael Twitty play into the night. Barnett, a Tennessee native, started singing at five years old and has been singing ever since. In her teen years, Barnett starred as country music legend Patsy Cline in the stage show “Always . . . Patsy Cline” at the celebrated Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Not long after, Barnett signed with Asylum Records where she released her first album entitled, “Mandy Barnett.” The album received glowing reviews in major trade publications and magazines, including “Time" magazine. Barnett's next album, “I've Got a Right to Cry,” was a huge critical success with “Rolling Stone” magazine naming it the top country album of 1999. Barnett continues to tour and even reprised her role in “Always . . . Patsy Cline” during the summer of 2011.
Joining Barnett on stage is Michael Twitty, son of country music legend Conway Twitty. Like father, like son - that's a great way to describe what Michael Twitty brings to the table as an entertainer. Twitty will take center stage as part of the Saturday night festivities. Twitty was born in Arkansas and has grown up in the music industry. As part of his stop at Bloomsburg, Twitty will be playing "The Memories of Conway Twitty," highlighting many of his father's hits. He has been described as having "infectious energy, tremendous vocal ability and timely wit that will positively keep audiences on the edge of their seat for the entire performance and on their feet at the close of his show." For the Friday Bull Riding and Saturday Barnett/Twitty performance, an additional fee will apply. Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket should do so via www.bloomsburgfair.com or by phone at 570-784-4949.
Along with the Friday bull riding and Saturday live music, the weekend will host a bevy of automotive-based fun. In true Carlisle fashion, the grounds at Bloomsburg will transform into a Fun Field with various makes, models and styles of vehicles positioned about the complex. In addition to a wide array of vehicles, show goers will enjoy burnouts, a flamethrower contest, slowest drags, teeter-totter competition and more. Each of the a fore mentioned activities will occur at no additional charge to spectators or participants.
By participating in the Bloomsburg Nationals powered by Carlisle Events, enthusiasts will step foot onto the massive 227-acre Bloomsburg Fairgrounds in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania for a show which will feature cars, trucks and motorcycles of varying eras, make, model and style. The event, produced by Carlisle Events in partnership with the Bloomsburg Fair Association and the Dream Machines Motor Club, will feature a swap meet, car corral and showfield along with great food and shopping options geared towards the entire family. The partnership combines nearly 70 years of experience and will yield a unique atmosphere that should not be missed.
