Cacklefest Returns in 2012

Get fired up! The Carlisle GM Nationals and Camaros at Carlisle are an experience that must be seen to be believed. With thousands of like-minded enthusiasts on site and cars representing more than 100 years of GM history, the weekend of June 22-24 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds promises to yield unmatched excitement. In addition to the great cars, one-of-a-kind shopping experiences, engine giveaway and industry guests, the GM event will feature a unique attraction called Cacklefest featuring Hall of Fame drag racer Bruce Larson.

As a feeling, Cacklefest can best be described with two words – heart stopping. As an attraction, Cacklefest is better defined as the revving of engines, the introduction of “fuel” into a drag car and the shear white knuckle rush that comes with it. The spine-tingling excitement returns as Bruce brings his USA-1 Camaro and USA-1 Corvette back to Carlisle for another go-around. Just like last year, open seats are available and would-be participants can win a chance to get behind the wheel and feel the rush of warming up Larson's fuel cars. Better yet, Bruce will help the winner from start to finish.

By popular demand at this year’s GM Nationals, eight lucky winners, four on Friday and four on Saturday, will have a chance to win a weekend pass for two including general parking or weekend GM Nationals showfield registration for the Carlisle GM Nationals to take part in "Cacklefest." In winning the prize, they’ll be able to sit in Bruce Larson's USA-1 Camaro or USA-1 Corvette and experience a thrill of a lifetime. Entrants into the contest will also be able to select what day they’d prefer to participate, either Friday or Saturday of GM weekend. Finally, winners will be drawn randomly and notified by June 15, 2012.

"Those of you familiar with Top Fuel racing know and understand what a 'Cacklefest' is all about and if you don't know by now, you should," said Rick Markko, GM Nationals Event Manager. "We’re giving you the chance to learn 'up close and personal' what 6,000 horsepower feels like in the seat of your pants AND in your nostrils," added Markko. "This is the most awesome activity we will be offering at the GM Nationals. Please be sure to take advantage, but also pay attention to the announcer when he tells you to 'STAND BACK!' You’ll understand later."
