A 1979 Classic X-1/9 up for Grabs in 2012

As part of the Import & Kit Nationals, thousands of cars of varying makes and models drive on grounds. In fact, more than seven countries are represented this year via 37 different manufacturers. The event, held May 18-20 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, highlights the automotive world, all within the fence line of the grounds. In 2012, one attendee who may have driven onto the grounds in one car, can drive off grounds in a totally different vehicle; a 1978 FIAT X-1/9.


This year just may be the year of the FIAT, if not from a sales standpoint, then from a conversation standpoint. The FIAT 500 marks the re-birth of the FIAT brand in the states and as the Import & Kit weekend celebrates Italian cars, it seemed only right to have one up for grabs too. The X-1/9 is a classic and comes complete with a removable Targa top, four-cylinder engine, manual transmission and a modern CD player. It looks great and runs even better.


Attendance is not required to win the car and no additional purchase is necessary. Hopeful winners may sign up on site via one of many kiosks located within the new Guest Services building during the Import & Kit Nationals, or online via www.CarlisleEvents.com/giveaways.


“Someone put a lot of time and money into this car,” noted event manager Ed Buczeskie. “With its small four-cylinder engine, it’s economical to operate but with the removable Targa top and manual transmission, it’s also fun to drive! All that’s needed is a new owner.”


A truly unique and engaging auto festival, the Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals welcomes an eclectic mix of over 1,400 vehicles from vintage to modern imports to many varieties of kit cars. Enthusiasts can take a tour of the automotive world in Carlisle.
