World Wide Audience to Attend Ford Nationals
Giveaways, a Parade, Industry Guests and More in Carlisle
Tuesday, May 31, 2011
The Ford Nationals, June 3-5 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds is right around the corner and that means supporters of the Blue Oval will converge on Central Pennsylvania by the thousands. With gates opening at 7 a.m. daily and a continuous slate of activities planned, the event will feature industry guests, special giveaways and for the first time ever, a downtown Ford Parade and Street Party.
Picking a true highlight of the event is difficult; however, it’s hard to deny the family entertainment value of the downtown Ford Parade and Street Party. The parade begins at 6:45 p.m. and will feature up to 400 select Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Euro Fords. Leading the way will be representatives from Ford Motor Company as well as those who participated in the Pinto Stampede, a 1,600-mile cross-country trek from Denver, Colorado to Carlisle. In addition to the Pinto Stampede itself, one lucky attendee at the Ford Nationals will go home with a 1971 Pinto. This particular model was built on June 2, 1971 in New Jersey, making it almost exactly 40 years old on the day that it will be awarded.
A perfect complement to a free car is a free motor, although this particular motor won’t easily fit into a Pinto. Carlisle Events and Ford Racing are partnering to give away a brand new 5.0L V-8 Coyote engine on Saturday. This engine is identical to one that will be installed during the “Coyote Countdown,” which can be witnessed throughout most of the weekend.
The “Coyote Countdown” happens Friday and Saturday and affords one person the chance to win $1,500 in Ford Racing Performance Parts. To win, registrants must accurately guess how long it will take (in hours and minutes only) for Kurgan Motorsports to swap out the old, tired engine and replace it with the V-8 Coyote. For all contests, submissions are accepted online at www.CarlisleEvents.com with a full description of eligibility requirements.
Along with the Pinto display and celebration, there will also be multiple Mustang displays. The Yellow Mustang Registry returns, the impressive new Boss 302 will be unveiled and another Carlisle first takes place with the most complete display of Shelby GT500 KR Mustangs on the planet. This Building G display will feature pristine KR’s from the golden years of the '60s and fresh horses from their rebirth during the early years of the new millennium.
Also coming to Carlisle in 2011 will be national TV coverage via the Lokar Car Show. The Lokar program is available on the Fox Sports Network and from the littlest bolt to the largest engine, no car is too small, no truck too big for the Lokar lenses. Enthusiasts will appreciate the focus on craftsmanship and showmanship from a variety of vehicles and venues. The Lokar crew will be on site Saturday only.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy the event with the Kids at Carlisle activities center, the Women’s Oasis, opportunities for drivers (of legal driving age) to test drive the latest and greatest products from Ford, drag racing at Quarter Aces Drag-O-Way, book signings, industry guests and so much more. With nearly 2,500 Fords on site and thousands of people in attendance, the 2011 Ford Nationals will be an elite Ford-branded event that is a must attend for men, women and children of all ages.
