Carlisle Events and MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust team up to host racing legend “Big Daddy” Don Garlits

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

CARLISLE, PA – Carlisle Events is proud to announce a partnership with MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust to welcome back drag racing legend “Big Daddy” Don Garlits to this year’s Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals. The All-Chrysler Nationals, July 10-12 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, is a must-attend event for all Mopar die-hards. Garlits will be on hand Friday and Saturday to meet with fans, sign autographs and pick out his favorite Mopar on the All-Chrysler Nationals Showfield.
“Big Daddy” Don Garlits is considered by many to be the patriarch of Top-Fuel drag racing for having developed the first successful rear-engine dragster. He is also revered by the performance racing and collector hobby community because of his relentless passion and strong work ethic. “Don is the kind of man who creates his own opportunities on the path to success and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty in the process. We like his hands-on attitude and believe it appeals to all the hands-on enthusiasts out there who enjoy working on their own cars,” said MagnaFlow President, Jerry Paolone.
Garlits has been competing and winning consistently in drag racing for four decades. In 2001, NHRA voted him the number one driver of their first 50 years. He has broken eight speed records, held 17 World Champion titles and has won a total of 144 national events. His “Swamp Rat XXX” dragster is on exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution.
Garlits’ passion for speed and power runs right in line with this year’s Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals special reunion featuring one of the largest gatherings of A12 factory Road Runners and Super Bees ever to be assembled. If “Big Daddy” and A12 factory race cars are not enough horsepower, Carlisle is also teaming up with Mopar Muscle magazine and Muscle Motors to give away a 490-cubic inch, big-block Stroker engine pushing out over 500 horsepower!
