See Riggle and his Hemi Together!

Bob Riggle and the Hurst Hemi Under Glass will be at the Hurst Nationals all weekend to meet with fans, sign autographs and pose for photos and engage in conversation. This is the Hemi Under Glass that Bob rolled with Jay Leno in the passenger’s seat. Bob is close personal friends with the current owner of the Hemi Under Glass, Bill Sefton. However, the Hemi Under Glass will be going to auction later this year so this might be your last chance to see Bob and the Hemi Under Glass together at an event. You don’t want to miss this opportunity!

Riggle was originally hired as the mechanic for the Hemi Under Glass and he traveled with the team so he knew the ropes. When the driver’s seat opened up at the end of the 1966 season, George Hurst asked Bob if he could drive the car. Bob accepted the challenge and was quickly able to run the car on its rear wheels and he got the job. Bob ran the car for Hurst until 1969 when he bought the car and campaigned it himself until he retired in the mid ‘70s.

In the late ‘90s, Bob found the remains of the original Hemi Under Glass in Canada. He bought and restored the car and even built a few replicas. Bob found himself behind the wheel once again making passes on two wheels at select events. Bob finally hung up his helmet for good a few years ago but he’ll be at the Hurst Nationals with his Hemi Under Glass for what could be the final time.
